Speaking at the club AGM on November 8, OCBC Chair Eddie Pram described the 2019-20 club season as a ‘game of two halves’.
Successful events and new initiatives marked a great start to the season, until the second half came along ‘with a new opposition team we had never met before’. While Covid-19 changed the game, the club and community came through strongly, Pram reported.
‘I think it’s fair to say the OCBC won both halves of the 2019-20 game.’
One highlight of the AGM was the presentation of OCBC Community Awards to three great people in our community.
Orere School principal Kerry Forse was acknowledged for the way she has grown the spirit so evident in the school, and for her mahi in bringing the school and Orere community closer together.
Local park ranger Lawrence Greaves was saluted for his stewardship of the outstanding regional parks in our area, and for his generosity and willingness to help when needed around the community.

Marta Watson, our Orere Point postie, was the third community hero recognised. Marta’s kindness and dedication to residents through and beyond recent lockdowns, (combined with her constant smile) made this very a popular award.

Long-time club supporters Kiri and Travis Pram were awarded Honorary Life Membership of the OCBC, recognising many years spent on the committee and their still generous and willing help seen at every event.
The committee was pleased that the AGM unanimously voted to adopt the updates suggested for the OCBC Club Constitution which had been circulated to Members. These strengthen the club’s objects, membership, finances and governance.
For the first time this year, financial and performance reporting was presented under the Public Benefit Entity Simple Format Reporting – Cash (Not for Profit) reporting standard. This shows how the OCBC is performing in terms of its objectives and outcomes, and presents a much more transparent report for Members and sponsors.
