No Fish Fishing Comp

On 17th April, because we were in Lockdown and could not hold our local fishing competition, we decided to do a Best Seafood Recipe competition. We asked everyone to give a short version of their recipe with the main ingredients.

Our good mates at Burnsco Manukau supplied us with a few goodies to giveaway. Simon and the team at Burnsco have always supported us very well. Any time you pop in be sure to say hello to Simon and the team and mention that you are from Orere Point.

We had seven recipe entries and it was hard to choose just one!

We decided to go with Kurt Tossell with his smoked kahawhai fish cakes. Kurt also received the most likes for his recipe.

His ingredients being:

• smashed kumara

• spring onion

• diced bacon

• sweet chilli sauce

• 2 eggs

• smoked fish

Mixed together and create patties. Then cover patties in panko crumbs.

We expect to be able to try these one day soon!!!

All entries received a prize with Kurt taking home the nice filleting set.
