The OCBC's Labour Weekend fishing competition was hugely successful raising $2,300 for the Kawakawa Bay Kindergarten along with a healthy dose of good times for the large crowd at the Orere Point Beach Reserve.
The weather was perfect, the crowds were hungry and the fish were plentiful. With 135 entries, the fish bins were full to the brim with Snapper, Trevally, Kahawai, Kingfish John Dory and Gurnard, making for some excellent buying in the fish auction.
The kindergarten plans to use the funds raised at the auction to purchase specialised outdoor recreation equipment for the children.
A massive thank you to everyone that came and supported our fundraising on the day.Thank you to everyone that helped, shelled, cooked, cleaned, set up, picked up, packed up, mixed up, weighed fish, took the stats, lent items, donated items, sponsored money prizes, filleted, gave your time, advice, money and services. Phew. Without every single one of you, we just couldn't do this!
Winners of Raffles are as follows:
Burnsco Tackle Raffle No:1 Jackson Middleton
PaknSave Hamper: Emma Kelly
Lolly Jar: Toby Jones
$50 Note: Aaron Stein
25 spot prizes were given out, and the 24 children entered all received a goodie bag. We were able to add extra fishing prizes thanks again to our very generous sponsors.
