Kawakawa Bay Predator Free by 2050?
Could we make this happen?
Here’s a chance for everyone to get involved.
Sadly, even though there are still a few weka around, WekaWatch Kawakawa Bay, the society, is in the process of being wound up. Its members and supporters will never lose sight of the wider goal of enhancing biodiversity for all native species in the Kawakawa Bay Orere area.

We are encouraged to know that an Orere Kawakawa Bay wide predator control initiative is being expanded, and be assured that we as weka watchers are fully supporting this
programme.
Every household can get involved in predator control; just one rat or possum trap or bait
station on your own property will be another step towards our national goal to be Predator
Free by 2050. (You may want to do more.)
We urge all residents to get to the trap and bait day on September 12th in the Kawakawa Bay Hall 10.00am to 12.00pm as advertised elsewhere in this issue of Whispers. Traps, baits and bait stations and advice are all available free, thanks to the support of Predator Free Franklin.
